    Fifth generation winemaker, philanthropist and Sonoma farmer Steve Ledson and his family are thrilled to donate $15,000 to the Sonoma FFA (Future Farmers of America) program at Sonoma Valley High School.     Winemaker Steve Ledson has quietly purchased a 125-acre parcel with 80 acres planted in vines atop the new Moon Mountain appellation above Sonoma Valley. The vineyard, known as Mountain Terraces, sits at 1,800 feet on the southwestern slopes of the Mayacamas Mountains on the back side of Mt. Veeder, above the Sonoma Valley floor.     Aspiring gardeners in Kristi Draluck’s kindergarten class at Prestwood School are working out of a new shed this year, thanks to a donation by Steve Ledson. After Draluck transformed a neglected playground into a beautiful garden (complete with solar power, thanks to a PG&E grant she pushed through), the blossoming garden needed a new storage space.     February 2012: Ledson Harmony Foundation Delivers New Pitching Machine for Sonoma Valley Girls Softball
    Last year Dean Merrill, Varsity Softball Coach and Program Director decided to go door to door asking for local merchants to donate funds to purchase the badly needed pitching machine. Vintner and philanthropist Steve Ledson approached him with the offer of donating the entire $2,700. Merrill stated,” This means so much to our players, not only will they have the opportunity to compete with top pitchers in the division, but all of the Recreation League players will benefit as well. ”….more

    We are sitting at the counter of Superburger on Fourth Street in Santa Rosa. It's maybe not the venue you'd expect for lunch with a multimillionaire tycoon who owns half a nearby city block, two wineries, a construction company, several homes, a Mendocino ranch, a luxury hotel, a philanthropic foundation and his very own castle. I’m having a medium-rare burger, he’s having a cheeseburger, a cup of chili and a vanilla shake. The calories don’t seem to concern him and there’s no tell tale roll beneath the crisp white T-shirt he’s wearing with the blue jeans that almost look ironed. There’s an immaculately trimmed moustache on his upper lip and not a hair is out of place on his carefully groomed head.
